This story has been over a year in coming. Now before anyone who didn't know I was planning on producing this story, what it's tie to Inspector Gadget is. Here I'll explain it again.

From 1992 to mid-1995 apparently, DiC Animation pursued the idea of making a series named "Gadget-Girl". This idea got scrapped and changed into Gadget Boy and Heather. Very little evidence exists talking about the lost series. Only to my knowledge a couple concept pieces of art and a magazine article.

Wanting to use the lost character of Gadget-Girl and in first concept piece, her accompanied by a cat instead of a robot dog which is shown in the second. I knew she couldn't be remotely in the same time as the rest of the cast, even Jake and his gang who normally have their stories set in the past. When the first story came out, a human cyborg was a shock to MAD to exist. That story is meant to take place about the same time it was published on 2015. When I wrote the second story featuring Jake & Heather. MAD's predecessor ( Scolex Enterprises ) knows Jake is different but fails to connect the dots about him. That story is set at the tailend of 1989. Jake ( Gadget Boy ) is officially the first cyborg created in the Iron and Steel-verse. A strange flip about time yes, since John ( Inspector Gadget ) was the first to be written. So where does this place the lady in the mix?

I didn't want to have it future set. Not with having more stories in the pipeline meant on current times. So then it hit me one area of writing fiction I'd never tackled before, steampunk. That is to put the decision in brief. This is set on purpose 100 years before what supplanted the lost series. That instead of the setting of 1995 have it as 1895.

This introduction section wasn't in the original planning. It's when I decided it was vital to not jump in, how it came about, plus it serves multiple purposes revealed quickly and much later on. I do know also since the concept art of Jocelyn made last year, her arm prosthetic now requires some visual change. ... Underneath that old picture look that concept art has, is the normal color scheme meant to represent her and her cat. Also odd note here to her design. Both on canon Inspector Gadget and Gadget Boy, have hair which flares out to the sides. This hair flare even appears in the Gadget-Girl concept art. Jocelyn is the only one in this AU to keep that look. I don't count page 163 of Iron and Steel, when John is running.

This story by the way is the first time I have ever made a dedication to anyone formally.

That's badass that you devoted a story to your friend.
